2013 Chicago Dodgeball Open Preview

The first tournament of the 2013 calender year is the Chicago Dodgeball Open, hosted by Depaul and Moody at the Ray Meyer Fitness and Recreation Center on Depaul’s campus. Joining Depaul and Moody for the CDO will be Grand Valley, James Madison, Michigan State, and Nebraska. Recently I attended a men’s basketball game between DePaul and Northern Illinois, both of which also have dodgeball clubs. NIU may play a game or so sometime this season. Introducing “24/7: Road to the Michigan Dodgeball Cup”

The Michigan Dodgeball Cup is traditionally the biggest tournament of the season outside of Nationals. Historically featuring schools like Michigan State, Delta College, Oakland, Grand Valley, Saginaw Valley, Lansing Community College, Eastern Michigan, and Central Michigan, this season’s MDC will likely feature just four teams- GVSU, MSU, SVSU, and CMU. However, these four schools are four of the top schools in the history of the NCDA, with a total of six National Championships in the eight year history of the NCDA.

An Instant Classic Between Lakers and Spartans

ALLENDALE- Grand Valley Fieldhouse Arena: Two titans of dodgeball proved they belong among the Nation’s best as they played out one of the best games of all time. The #6 Lakers (4-1-0), led by Captain Mark Trippiedi, won a wild affair 3-2 in overtime over #3 Michigan State (7-2-1), led by Captain Sam Hiller.

Games This Weekend- December 1st and 2nd

With plenty of match-ups across the country, this weekend should be a solid one for the NCDA. Top Teams Clash in Allendale

Two historic programs collide as the #3 Michigan State Spartans (7-1-0) and the #6 Grand Valley State Lakers (3-1-0) will play a match December 2nd at the Grand Valley Fieldhouse Arena. Expect a great atmosphere as the Lakers try to stay unbeaten all-time against the Spartans, but this game should be a close one.
