Power Rankings – November 2017

As we progress further and further into the fall semester, the college dodgeball season continues to heat up!  Already this year we have seen some fantastic games, and a few very surprising outcomes.  We even had our first event on the west coast when Gonzaga and Oregon State met for a double header.

Since it is the start of a new month, it is time to reveal the new power rankings.  This month, the list was compiled by fellow NCDA Executive Board member Jacob Leski and myself.  We both produced a top 20 list and combined them to make the final composite power rankings that you see below (any tie between two schools would go in favor of the team with the higher win percentage).  Leski and I both leave brief comments below for each team.

Let us know what you think about the current power rankings, and what you expect will change before December rolls around.

1) Central Michigan

Central Michigan is without a doubt worthy of the #1 ranking based on how they have done so far this year.  Their home tournament on Saturday will be a HUGE test for them.  Continue reading “Power Rankings – November 2017”

Standings as of 2017-10-31

The Gonzalez System now includes 260 technical upsets in 1337 (leet) ranked matches. For the 2018 Season, we’re at 24 technical upsets in 87 ranked matches. We’ve also seen twelve JV contests, and four new schools: Midland, Southern Illinois Edwardsville, Gonzaga, and Oregon St. All the following data is current as of 2017-10-31.

It was a successful weekend for a tournament as DePaul and University of Wisconsin Platteville (UWP) welcomed Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) to the league as the 48th school to play in the NCDA.  The following were the results of the day:

Starting a Team Part 1 – From an Idea to University Recognition

Hello, my name is Kevin Frye and I am the captain of the Dodgeball Club at Ball State University. Just to give some background information on myself, I was a transfer student from The University of Kentucky to Ball State at the beginning of my sophomore year due to changing majors and other decisions. Playing that single year at UK inspired me to find some way to start a team at Ball State since dodgeball became my life and I couldn’t lose that, and I had no idea where to start. The Platteville Supertastic Dodgeball to Your Face Kiss Your Butt Goodbye Explosionfest Invitational

Well, ladies and gentlemen, as always it is your favorite content writer coming to you with another preview.  It is Platteville’s home tournament this weekend on Saturday October 28, 2017 at the Williams Fieldhouse (350 Jay St, Platteville, WI 53818). Three teams will be in attendance: UW-Platteville (UWP), DePaul and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUe). This will be SIUe’s Induction match into the league and it could not be with two better teams to show them how to play the game of dodgeball. Midland Induction Match

FREMONT, NE – YMCA: Midland will be joining the League this Saturday the 28th as they host visiting team Nebraska Lincoln. Warmup is scheduled to begin at 10:00am, followed by a mixed scrimmage to acclimate to the NCDA ruleset. At 12:00pm UNL will face Midland in the Induction Match. Lincoln and Fremont are just an hour drive apart, so we hope to be seeing these teams thrive together.

Standings as of 2017-10-24

It’s Tuesday, so let’s interpret the raw data from this weekend’s matches at the BGSU Invitational.

There were 7 ranked matches and 3 JV contests, which brings us to 75 ranked matches in the 2018 Season. That’s impressive and we keep breaking the record for most games played up to this point in the season (75 to last year’s 68 ranked matches up to the 4th Sunday of October.)

We also have 10 JV contests! The record for most JV games played in a Season is 11 contests in the 2015 Season, and we’re going to break that record before the winter break. A number of staff are impressed to see JV catching on this year, but keep in mind: it’s up to the leaders of each team to allow JV / B team / Second teams to see action. Games were played under the World Dodgeball Federation ruleset with foam dodgeballs.
