THROUGH THE POWER of technology, we’re going to start a process where invite the PUBLIC GENERAL to converse about the proposed rules and policy that can be found on the forum. It will be about an hour long recorded event. The purpose is to start a conversation, touch base with what we are as an organization, and what we need to be in the future.

For Nationals 2016, there are three schools placing a bid to host: U of Maryland, DePaul U, and Bowling Green State U. I asked each to write out a little bit concerning their bid:
Following the NCDA’s voting policy, the vote will be preferential. Teams will submit their ballot by ranking each school in order of their preference. The most preferred school will host Nationals 2016.
Voting will run from today, April 20th to April 26th, or until each Member Team casts a ballot.
Attention All: Sorry about the extreme delay on this year’s rulebook release, we really went through everything and fine-tuned the format, grammar, and some of the rules that might have been difficult to interpret. Most of this year’s rule changes don’t actually alter the game, other than [18.104.22.168 & 22.214.171.124] which is primarily to blame for our delay in publishing.
The changes this year primarily focused on making the rules more easily understood for those who are new and interested in playing by the NCDA’s ruleset, as well as those who have been playing for years. We invite every member of the NCDA to read through the rulebook and offer some sort of suggestion for future changes. Again, we apologize for this year’s delay, but hope everyone will take the time to become familiar with the changes before this year’s Nationals at Western Kentucky University April 11-12.
At the Annual Captain’s Meeting on the evening of April 11th we will vote on any changes the league would like to see added or retracted from the 2015/2016 rulebook which will be published by September 1, 2015. Please post any rule change suggestions to the forum for further discussion. If you have any questions, please comment below and a member of the NCDA Executive Board will be happy to answer

On the forum you’ll find a couple things relating to the Executive Board. These are very broad overviews of the in-progress Constitution, but the 2014 Board thought they were necessary to establish before voting on the 2015 Board.
First: the board itself. President, Treasurer, Director of League Expansion, Chief of Content, Director of Nationals.

Officials! Good People! The NCDA is establishing a directory of Dodgeball Officials so that all of the dodgeball world might have quality Officials for their competitive events. If you ever officiated a Dodgeball game, NCDA or not, please take five minutes and fill our this form!

Good people! Your administrative interns have completed work on the NCDA Rulebook for the 2014 Season. Here it is!
Captains & Officers of the Member Teams: If you find anything, any problems, any mistakes, any issues, any contradictions please email them to the League email and they will be addressed! If there are no issues, the Rulebook will become valid on 11 October 2013.
A little history: The foundations of our college dodgeball ruleset goes back to 2005. In 2010/11, I recodified the 2011 Rulebook into a more logical arrangement. Some of the things that were rewritten included the ambiguous language: “Ball hits Player B then hits Player A or Player A’s teammate. Player B is out.” It was replaced with more recognizable language like Targets and Throwers. Anyway, three seasons have passed and the Rulebook has been put through some great tests over that time. Three years was a good amount of time to take another fresh look at the Rules and see if we could further refine the language and any ambiguities that might have popped up.
Adding Felix Perrone [WKU] and Dylan Fettig [GVSU] as editors, here’s a list of the many changes we undertook. Most of the edits are grammatical and changing ambiguous language to specific language.

I just wanted to send a quick message out to everyone. The Subject: Injuries related to Dodgeball.
While I’m chiefly interested in injuries during matches and JV matches, I’d also like you report injuries that happen at practices/regular dodgeball nights. Even report those incidents that might happen outside of a scrimmage, but still during practice time, and in practice space. (i.e. People were horsing around between games and sustained a sprained ankle from slipping on a ball.) Continue reading “Injury Notice”
