Since September 2019, the NCDA has been recognizing rookie players that make a statement on the court through their skills, leadership, and ability to mobilize a team. For the first time in NCDA history, there is a Women’s league, and this is the first month women are receiving their own individual spotlight. After a stellar performance at the Cornhusker Clash on October 8th, the first Women’s Rookie of the Month ever goes to Annie Larson from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville. Annie impressed teammates and spectators alike with game-changing catches, leadership skills, and overall dodgeball IQ. Caleb Newell took some time to interview this rising player; take a look at the interview below:Continue reading “October 2022 wROTM – Annie Larson”

We are back at again this weekend with a big doubleheader happening in the newly formed Central Region (previously Midway and South). This clash is between the top teams in the region: University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL) and the University of Wisconsin Platteville (UWP). The games will be played in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Nebraska Coliseum. Every year Nebraska hosts the Cornhusker Clash and every year it becomes an even bigger battle. These games are always close and tend to go into overtime. Last year, UNL got the best of UWP in games they played, putting up a 5-1 record in the matchup, only losing the last game in OT to the Pioneers. Will this year repeat last year with another OT match at this event? Let’s take a look at the schedule below and see what the captains think heading into this weekend.Continue reading “Cornhusker Clash Preview”

We expected a weekend full of quality dodgeball as Akron hosted their 5th annual iteration of The War. What we witnessed, however, was frankly a lot of lopsided matches. Certain teams we anticipated to have great performances came in as advertised. Others left a lot to be desired, and will hope to bounce back strong if they play again before Nationals, or else they will be chewing on those hard truths about the way their team played for the next 5 weeks.
With that being said, there is a lot to unwrap, and a lot to be said about what we saw from each team, whether they performed well, poorly, or somewhere in between. Let’s go team by team and evaluate what we saw.Continue reading “The War V Recap”
