Over the last year, the South region has become a hub for league growth and a region that everybody should keep their eyes on. Many schools are primed to enter the region and begin competitive play; additionally, each of the existing programs are expected to take significant leaps in the 2027 campaign. Continue reading “South Dodgeball Cup Preview”We’re halfway into the 2026 NCDA season, and the South region has gone from one of the smallest, most sparse regions in the association to the fastest-growing. #11 Northern Kentucky continues their steady improvement and #14 North Georgia is playing the best dodgeball they ever have. Lower down in the deep south, #22 Alabama begins their debut season strong with 12 points scored and #25 Georgia Southern looks to complement their shortened roster to maximize their potential.
Not only are the teams in the South improving rapidly, but many prospective teams in the South look to enter the league this spring or next fall. As such, this year’s South Cup will be the most interesting yet. Here’s a recap of each team’s fall semester.
Sunday, November 16 will see the entirety of the southern region meet in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for Crimson Chaos, Alabama’s inaugural home tournament. North Georgia, Alabama, and Georgia Southern met for the first time this season in September, but Northern Kentucky enters the mix now. This year, however, the NCDA welcomed the University of Alabama (Bama) into the league as the Crimson Tide faced Georgia Southern University (GSU) and the University of North Georgia (UNG). Here’s a look at how each match-up went.
On Saturday, Georgia Southern hosted the Southern Standoff with Ole Miss and North Georgia also in attendance. If you didn’t tune in to watch, you missed quite the shake-up in the South Region, but not to worry, I’ve got you covered with a full recap including some thoughts from each team.

Listed below is the 2020 All-Region Team for the South. This list was voted on by captains within the South Region.
Back to back All-South #1’s for the University of Kentucky! Leading the Southern Region list is the captain of the University of Kentucky dodgeball team himself. This is his second year in a row being on this list, moving from #2 to MVP in the South, and rightfully so. LaJeunesse stepped up big time for his team this year, leading them to several victories throughout the season and the first ever Southern Dodgeball Cup Championship. He is an extremely versatile player with a ton of energy and presence on the court, and he has some pretty awesome moves which makes him surprisingly hard to hit. He also makes some pretty funny Tik-Toks, so check him out!
This past Saturday, the University of North Georgia and Georgia Southern University took long voyages to Northwestern State University of Louisiana for NSULA’s Mardi Gras Madness Tournament. In result, the league found some answers about the unknown South Region of the NCDA. Five matches were played between the three squads validating each school to become eligible to compete at Nationals come April. The day began with in-state rivals UNG and GSU going head-to-head, and concluded with NSULA playing two matches against the traveling teams each.
