Senior Day in Saginaw
SVSU will be playing their Senior Day game again this year, with it being a three team round robin on Saturday, March 16th. The “Cardinal Clash” will feature Saginaw Valley, Bowling Green, and Central Michigan. SVSU is the favorite for the round robin, but BGSU and CMU both have great players on their teams and could win it as well. Check back with us for scores and updates.
BOTM: 2013 March
Zach Phelps [SVSU-2-A]
This month’s Baller of the Month helped lead his team to a second place finish in the Michigan Dodgeball Cup, as well as winning the BEAST II at James Madison. Phelps went from being a complementary player on last year’s National Championship team to one of the stars of the #4 ranked team in the country. Zach has a good power arm, can catch, and more importantly is one of the leaders of a surprise team and one of the most improved players in the country. Continue reading “BOTM: 2013 March”
Dodgeball Outside the NCDA: Dodgeball Nation’s $20,000 Tournament
Dodgeball Nation‘s “World Series” is upping the ante this year with a $20,000 payout to the winning team, $2000 for second place, and $1000 for third. To enter the tournament, it’s a $600 dollar buy in. This year the tournament is being held Detroit, MI, and after over 70 teams came to the Detroit Cup Dodgeball Tournament this past weekend, expect a bunch of squads to pony up and play in the tournament.

Nationals Memories: Sam Hiller on 2009
My first Nationals was in Allendale, MI, at Grand Valley State University. This was during the time of the greatest dodgeball team ever, a Lakers team that didn’t drop a single point all season. This Nationals featured nine teams, and after a season where nobody outside of GVSU really had the talent to compete in the modern game, it was still a great tournament.

What If?- Dodgeball World Cup
So with everyone’s favorite international competition, the World Baseball Classic, starting this weekend, and me watching the gamecast on my computer at work, I thought “How cool would it be if dodgeball had a World Cup!”

DePaul University Invite Preview
The recently announced DePaul University Invite will feature a unique mix of teams: #14 DePaul, #13 Moody Bible Institute, #2 Kentucky, and Wisconsin-Platteville, who hasn’t played a game yet this season. While its clear that UK is the favorite for the tournament, and should likely pick up three wins, the other three schools definitely have what it takes to pick up at least two wins.
Injury Notice
Hello Good People,
I just wanted to send a quick message out to everyone. The Subject: Injuries related to Dodgeball.
While I’m chiefly interested in injuries during matches and JV matches, I’d also like you report injuries that happen at practices/regular dodgeball nights. Even report those incidents that might happen outside of a scrimmage, but still during practice time, and in practice space. (i.e. People were horsing around between games and sustained a sprained ankle from slipping on a ball.) Continue reading “Injury Notice”
