Tournament Preview: University of Akron’s Pink Out VI

This marks the 6th time that teams will compete at the University of Akron in October for the (formerly) annual Pink Out Tournament, hosted by the Zips. The teams in attendance will be the Redhawks from Miami, The Bowling Green State University Falcons, and The Cleveland State Vikings. The three visiting teams will all be competing in their first matches of the season, with the hosts competing in their second tournament this year. I asked the attending school’s captains what their takes and expectations for their teams are when they compete this weekend, as well as some stand out players to watch out for on their squad.

Pink Out IV Preview: Picking against the Spread

This weekend, Akron University will host their 4th Annual “Pink Out” tournament, and as is always the case, we will learn a lot about the teams in attendance. This year looks to be a special tournament, as 12 different teams will travel to northeast Ohio for what will possibly be the largest tournament of the fall. Worth noting, all but 1 of the teams ranked 6-13 in the latest “Power Rankings” will be in attendance, making this a prime opportunity for each of those teams to prove their worth and make a jump in the rankings heading into November.

As we get set for an awesome weekend of dodgeball, a few members of the Content Team decided to provide their predictions for the weekend. Pink Out 2: The Exchange Strikes Back

Akron holds a second Pink Out and I would love for this to continue as tradition. They’re in a great geographical position. But even more, Akron has some positive vibes to bring in some great competitors. For this event, we see three out of state teams and all these matches have good values on the Gonzalez exchange. The average rating gap is just 4.417, so our competitors have some great matches ahead of them this weekend. Continue reading

Akron hosts the first Pink Out

Alrighty, for Akron’s Pink Out tournament we have a lot of teams with similar ratings! Aside from Kent, most teams playing at Akron this Saturday have a average rating of 39.287 and a median rating of 38.585. That’s quite balanced… even with a spread of just 5.991 rating points from the highest rated team to the lowest rated team.
