NCDA Selection Sunday

April Annihilation begins with the 2013 All Star Draft, tonight at 9:15pm EST on Google+ and Youtube, as well as ncdadodgeball.com. Captains Dan Shackelford and Felix Perrone of the Brave Little Toasters and Sam Hiller and Zigmas Maloni of the Monstars will do their part to split up the All Stars into the best All Star Game yet.

However, the fun continues Sunday night, as Zac Brown of UK Dodgeball will release the schedule for Nationals live on Google+ and Youtube, and he will be joined by a group of NCDA veterans who will be breaking down the pools. It is tenatively scheduled for 9:30pm EST this Sunday!

Be sure to check them out if you’re interested!

Region Realignment

Regions are fluid and flexible. They are designed to group teams together based on who teams play the most. For example, MSU, GV, SV, and CMU played each other a total of 19 matches in the 2013 Season. They are grouped in the MI region because they play each other, not because of any special geographical significance. Although distance may play a part in how teams play each other more regularly, the important thing is the end result. Regions are based on statistics.

Here is a sheet detailing who’s played who for the 2013 season. I’ve included the upcoming DePaul-Moody match.  Continue reading “Region Realignment”

2013 All-Star Game- The Brave Little Toasters vs The Monstars

The 2013 All-Star Game will be unique compared to the previous two All-Star Games. The first ASG (played at Nationals 2011) was Michigan vs The World, with Michigan picking up the win. The Michigan schools got on average six All-Stars, but the World schools only got two each. The game was one sided, with the Michigan schools dictating the game play and pace, and games were played during the second half. Still, it was a great first effort for an ASG, and it was enjoyable to play in and watch. The second All-Star game at Nationals 2012 gave teams All-Stars based on how successful they were during the regular season, and drew players out of a hat on which team they were on. While there was more parity in the game, it looked like the players weren’t as interested in the game. So Zac Brown (UK #13-C) has come up with an alternative for the next ASG.
