So it seems that everyone is enjoying their summer break by going on vacations, hanging out with friends, partying, or working; but I find it near impossible to keep my mind off of how much I miss playing dodgeball. Continue reading “Advertising: The Most Crucial Part to Keeping NCDA Teams Alive”

Aaron Rodgers Leads Team to Dodgeball Championship
Aaron Rodgers led his team to the Packers Dodgeball Tournament Championship, wrapping up their three day Mini-Camp for offseason practices. Rodgers, along with teammates such as Mason Crosby, Randall Cobb, and Johnny Jolly, were able to knock off James Jones’ squad for the title. In the championship game, it came down to a two on two (Rodgers and rookie Lane Taylor vs Jones and Jordy Nelson) and Rodgers, who has one career reception for -1 yards, made a huge catch on Nelson to make it three on one before taking down James Jones. Now Rodgers, and his pseudo-rival have something in common, as former Packer Brett Favre has also played in a dodgeball tournament this season.

NCDA Alum Kat Takeda Named to Team USA
Kat Takeda, formerly of DePaul Dodgeball, has been selected to Team USA for their trip to New Zealand for the World Dodgeball Federation’s World Championship. She is the first dodgeballer chosen from the NCDA, and is one of the best players to come from the NCDA, male or female, ever. There is still a little time for people to apply for Team USA, but hurry! More information is available in this post.
Ultimate Dodgeball Qualifiers
With the championship of the Ultimate Dodgeball Champioinship being aired (tape delayed) on FSN, qualifiers begin in early August at Skyzones across the US. For the uninitiated, Ultimate Dodgeball is called “3D Dodgeball”. You play at a Skyzone location on trampolines, and you can get a taste of how it’s played here. CHICAGO: Summer leagues to keep yourselves busy
Our League is consistently active throughout the year, from September to April and May. I’d consider that lucky. Many college sport programs are much shorter, and I believe the opportunity to fit in as much dodgeball during that time is great. More dodgeball generally equals more fun.
The end of the school year and the start of summer doesn’t have to end play time. Thanks to the ever increasing popularity of dodgeball, there’s plenty of summer leagues and events to fuel your dodgeball crave.

Continuing Thoughts on League Expansion
Problem:
The NCDA is the kind of league that sees consistent growth over the course of time. The only issue facing the league in this regard is how do we continue this growth? Continue reading “Continuing Thoughts on League Expansion”
Recruitment: Analyzing Our Expansion
Nothing like a new Member Team to get me excited about the NCDA. It probably gets me through weeks of paperwork. There’s little things that teams do, like answering a request, or posting a game score so I don’t have to search for it. Those get me through the day. But a new, Upcoming Team submitting their contact information and getting ready for their induction match? That’s something that gets me thinking about the League’s future.
We had Penn State join at Nationals 2013, and Saint Ambrose [in Iowa] submit their contact information on May 5th. In order to further develop the League with new schools throughout North America, we first have look at how and why we’ve grown. Continue reading “Recruitment: Analyzing Our Expansion”

I sat down with the both of them for an interview:
NCDA Matchups Outside of Dodgeball
While sitting at home today during a glorious Mother’s day, I’ve spent the majority of the day watching the opening rounds of the college lacrosse tournament. During this time I made one big realization, two NCDA teams are about to meet up for the first time ever, and not on a dodgeball court. Yes, I’m talking about Towson University facing The Ohio State University. Continue reading “NCDA Matchups Outside of Dodgeball”

USA National Dodgeball Team Applications
Ian Childs [MSU] said this about the NCDA: “you’ll find a plethora of talented guys and girls who will no doubt win games.” There’s always plenty of dodgeball going around, and more dodgeball is being played all the time.
Currently, the USDO [USA Dodgeball Organization] is searching for players for the USA’s national team, in Australia this September. The Deadline is June 30th, but they only consider people that apply. Full information can be found on a facebook post in their group. Continue reading “USA National Dodgeball Team Applications”
Why the NCDA is Really One Big Family
Recently there has been a lot of lamenting about how certain teams and/or people within the NCDA are hated, or the subject of egregious bias. Instead of sitting here trying to downplay this occurrence, I decided to take a look at why this takes place. Continue reading “Why the NCDA is Really One Big Family”
