Mark September 20th on your calendars ’cause UW-Eau Claire (UWEC) will be hosting the second annual Eau Claire Brawl tournament. This year the schools expected to attend are UW-Platteville (UWP) and UW-Stout (UWS) as well as several alumni players. Below is the schedule and a brief breakdown of each team who will be in attendance.

12:30p.m. | UWP | Alumni |
1:30p.m. | Alumni | UWEC/UWS |
2:30p.m. | UWP | UWEC/UWS |
4:00p.m. | UWP (no-sting) | Mixed (no-sting) |
UW-Eau Claire

UWEC hasn’t been a part of the league for very long, and they have undergone a few periods of rebuilding. However, this tournament will be a valuable practice experience for them to figure out who their opponents in the central region are. It will further help the team gain experience in dodgeball so they can continue to grow as a team and push their way onto the leaderboard in the Central region.
UW-Platteville
UWP is bringing 19 players, 6 of which are rookies, so this tournament will be their first real taste of what dodgeball will be like. It will also hopefully kick the vets back into gear for the NCDA format after a summer of playing NDA. While not all seasoned players can attend this event, their newer, less experienced members can use this as a great hands-on learning experience.
UW-Stout
Much like UWEC, UW-Stout is a young team, and they have also been undergoing rebuilding. They have showed great progress over the past two seasons, but their lower numbers and consisting of primarily rookies prevents them from competing against many other teams. We hope they perform well and further gain confidence in order to complete against bigger name teams in the league.
Final Thoughts
Each team will have their own challenges to overcome–whether that be inexperience or smaller roster–but this season-opening tournament should help them knock off the spider webs and kick their teams into gear for this year!
Make sure to tune in to watch the games live. They will be streamed on the UW-Platteville Dodgeball YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to get notifications when they go live!
