A League of Our Own – Bryce Bathras
Dodgettes Navigating a New League
As the 2022 semester kicks off, one thing can be said for certain about the college dodgeball atmosphere: we are amidst an entirely new league. After practices came to an abrupt end almost two years ago, college dodgeball returned last fall, and with it came an exciting season of close matches, upsets, rookies, and of course, dodgettes (Shout-out to Akron University’s female players for coining the new term).
This article continues to highlight dodgettes across the league: December 2021 graduates, pre-COVID veterans, and new recruits. Stay tuned to hear how they made their name in the league and what they are looking forward to this year; in other words, dodgettes navigating a new league.

Towson keeps control of East Coast after Maryland Madness
While there are no certainties in life, it is fair to say that coming off of the season and a half hiatus Towson was still likely to be the top team in the East Coast. After a few tournaments, including this previous weekend’s ‘Maryland Madness’ hosted by UMD, that remains the case. The rest of the East Coast has been anything but predictable, though.

2020 All-East Coast Team
Listed below is the 2020 All-Region Team for the East Coast. This list was voted on by captains within the East Coast Region.
1. Evan Eschenburg – JMU

For the 3rd year in a row, Eschenburg finds himself receiving an All-East Coast selection, and now adds an East Coast MVP to his illustrious career. While taking a step back as captain of the Dukes, his play certainly didn’t take any steps back. He was constantly a spark on a talented JMU team that finished 4th in the country.

Nationals Preview, Best Case Scenarios: East Coast
Nationals is only a few weeks away people! Not that anyone needed me to tell them that, but as many would expect that means it’s time to start previewing all potential facets of the crazy weekend to come. Border War Could Prove Important for Nationals Seeding
Don’t let the Michigan Dodgeball Cup (MDC) distract you from everything else going on this weekend. Over in Richmond, Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) will be hosting the Border War, consisting of teams exclusively from neighbor states Virginia and Maryland.
Why should anyone pay attention?
Well, 3 of the top 10 teams in the country will be present which includes #4 James Madison University (JMU), #5 Towson University (TU), and #9 VCU. The University of Virginia (UVA) and University of Maryland (UMD) both have an opportunity to move up 2-3 spots in terms of seeding with a win. There will also be three JV teams playing which means we will have the opportunity to see the future of the league. Here are some headlines to watch out for this coming weekend.
