As Michigan State University hosts their first-ever Women’s dodgeball tournament, we will see many teams compete. The Spartans have two teams competing in the Beaumont Blast along with Akron & several other schools making up the NCDA Mixed team. Having all of these different schools come together to take on #1 ranked Akron will be something you don’t want to miss.

Akron will be the team to beat. MSU’s Green team has been fighting for the title with Akron, and we will see who takes it at the 1:30 pm game. Another game to look at is the 12:00 game where MSU Green plays MSU White. With them practicing together it will be unique to watch as they all know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Hyla Rounds is up and coming as the appointed captain of the white team, watch as she guides the team up the leaderboard. Some players that have been the talk are Alexis Schultz of Akron and Allie Pohl of MSU Green, these captains have been fighting their own game in the leaderboard for Women’s All-American. I also hear that Jazzy Hill has some new tricks up her sleeve, look out for her on the Mixed team.
Looking at the standings, MSU White has some overtaking to do with the Mixed team. Will they be defeated on their own court is the question. Akron is looking for blood, leading the standings as the best women’s team. Abby Emery is helping to keep the Zips in the running, and she may be the one to look out for come game time.
Each team competing this weekend will be enjoyable to watch for all different styles of dodgeball. Make sure to tune in on YouTube for the team you will be rooting for and the upcoming players. Remember athletes and spectators, “In the end, it’s the extra effort that separates a winner from second place”.
