Women’s Pink Out IV Preview

Another Sunday, another women’s dodgeball tournament! This time, on October 18th, University of Akron will be hosting the fourth installment of the Women’s Pink Out tournament with Grand Valley University and Cleveland State University as guests. This event will coincide with the open league’s Pink Out tournament, so check out that article for more information on the event. For now, let’s take a look at the teams attending!

Akron

This will be Akron’s first appearance since the Red Cedar Rumble back in September, where they went 3-0. This time, they’ll be playing Grand Valley for a second time, and we expect them to score as many points on the team as they can. They will be the only team playing four games at this event, playing both teams twice. This will put their team’s stamina up to the test, but their previous appearances suggest this isn’t usually a problem. It will be interesting to see how this team plays against the newer Grand Valley team for the second time so far this season and against their own players who join the mixed team.

GVSU

This is the second weekend in a row where Grand Valley is participating in a women’s tournament, and this a great opportunity for them to bring what they learned at the Women’s Grand Valley Gauntlet. This young team has grown since their first appearance at the Red Cedar Rumble in September, and they’ve played some of the bigger names in the league already, so this time shouldn’t be all that different. However, they will be facing the most experienced team in the league by far when playing Akron, so their teamwork and communication will truly be put to the test.

Mixed

The mixed team will consist of Akron’s players not on the A team and those attending from CSU. It will be a test to see how these players work together as they are usually rivals, but the newer CSU players will definitely benefit from the experience and coaching the Akron women will bring. The league has been hoping for the CSU team to grow and attend more events, so seeing some players join Akron at this event is a good look for their team’s growth.
