Lakers’ Rookie Spotlight
Matt has been a key factor on the court since he started playing at Grand Valley. He understands the game and can compete with the top players. He is a well rounded player and arguably one of the best blockers in the NCDA. He has been part of the OT six multiple times and continues to show off his skills.
Ryan is turning out to be one of Grand Valleys best catchers. He understands the game very well and is rounding out to be a dangerous threat on the court. Watch out for both of these players during nationals and through their college careers.
Key Contributors for the Lakers
Any player on Grand Valley’s roster is deserving of a national recognition. Each player would standout on any other team. A few players to note that have been huge factors in wins this season are Ben Smart, Tyler Peach, Nick Hehl, Josh Hill, Owen Israels, Tom Williamson, and Alec Gonzalez. It’s hard to narrow down such a wide variety of talent. Any player on Grand Valley has a clutch gene that allows them to excel in any situation. Expect any player to be able to make the necessary plays when the time comes.
Mindset for Nationals – Nick Hehl
“What makes Grand Valley so different from the rest of the league is that we are more than just a team, we’re a family. We support each other on and off the court, making sure we stay positive through the ups and downs of the season. Our underclassman follow the strong leadership of our veteran players while also being independent and making great decisions on the court. I’m confident that our team has what it takes to win a national championship this year and we are excited to prove ourselves on April 9th & 10th.”
