2018-19 Season Predictions

It’s almost that time of year again.  As schools get back in session all across the country, the anticipation continues to build for another season of collegiate dodgeball!  As we approach the new season, a few members of the content team have provided their predictions for how this year will play out in the NCDA.  Take a look at their predictions below:


Chief of Content Kevin Bailey:

• National Champion: Grand Valley State
• National Runner-Up: James Madison
• Final Four Teams: GVSU, JMU, SVSU, MSU
• Dark Horse Title Contender: Kent State
• MVP: Brandon Meisel (GVSU)
• School on the Rise: UVA/UMD/UCF
• School on the Decline: Central Michigan
• Best Region: Michigan
• Most Intriguing Region: Ohio
• Surprise team that will break into the Top 10: Akron
• Best Storyline to follow in 2019: Who will come out on top in the extremely close Ohio Region?


Executive Board Member Hunter Ford:

• National Champion: Grand Valley State
• National Runner-Up: Saginaw Valley State
• Final Four Teams: GVSU, SVSU, JMU, Towson
• Dark Horse Title Contender: Michigan State
• MVP: Brandon Meisel (GVSU)
• School(s) on the Rise: MSU, UVA, Akron, UMD
School(s) on the Decline: CMU, BGSU, Kent, VCU
Best Region: Michigan
• Most Intriguing Region: Ohio
• Surprise team that will break into the Top 10: UVA/Akron
Best Storyline to follow in 2019: The potential of 5 different teams to share a spot at the top of the Ohio Region (BGSU, Kent, Miami, Ohio, Akron).

  • Surprise team that will break into the Top 10: UVA/Akron/Miami
  • Best Storyline to follow in 2019: Can Kenny Mize lead SVSU without the arsenal he’s had in the past?
