Sunday, October 11th, is welcoming another brand new women’s tournament to the women’s league! From Grand Valley State University, the Women’s Grand Valley Gauntlet, will be run at the same time as the Grand Valley Gauntlet XIII for the open division. This year, GVSU, MSU, and CMU will be in attendance for both tournaments.

GVSU
Grand Valley wanted to celebrate their formation of a women’s team by founding their own Grand Valley Gauntlet for womens! It is very exciting to see the number of women’s tournaments grow in each region, and tournaments so close together gives their rookies the chance to acclimate to the tournament environment. The GV ladies did a great job at the Red Cedar Rumble by going 1-2 on the day, winning their first ever game as an official team. This time, I’m sure they’re hoping to add a few more points to their game against MSU, and they’ll want to make sure all their players get the opportunity to attack and feel supported.

MSU
This will be MSU’s second event so far this season with the Red Cedar Rumble being their first. They went 2-1 at that event, and it was a valuable experience for their rookies as they experienced the tournament atmosphere for the first time. Their loss to Akron at the Red Cedar Rumble was unfortunate, so I expect they are going to play hard and fast in order to iron out those wrinkles from the last tournament. It will be interesting to see what their rookies will have learned since their last appearance, and hopefully they’ll have a boost in confidence at their second tournament this season.

CMU
CMU was registered last season as an official team but never participated in any events as an official team. This season looks a little different for the team as they have a few women interested in attending events and gaining experience in the division. This tournament will have them playing in a mixed match on GV’s team against MSU, and a break halfway through the day where drills and strategy will be discussed to help the newer women get a better grasp on the game. I will be exciting to see how these women perform especially since we’ve yet to see what they’re capable of.
Remember to check out the NCDA’s YouTube channel for the live steaming of the tournaments, and check out the NCDA’s Facebook and Instagram for updates leading up to the tournament as well as each teams’ social medias for team updates and more information. Good luck this weekend!

I didn’t even know collegiate dodgeball was a thing. Is this club I assume?
