Zanderthon Throw-Down

It’s tournament weekend and although there is the ODC and the Beast we cannot forgot about the Zanderthon Throw-Down 3.0

The most anticipated tournament of the weekend, of course

On Saturday February 24, 2018, two of the top teams in the Midway Conference will go head to head in a double header.  This will be the third time that University Wisconsin-Platteville (UWP) and University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) will have played each other and Platteville has got the better of the Cornhuskers each time.  The games will be played at the Williams Fieldhouse (350 Jay St Platteville, Wisconsin 53818).  We will also be featuring an alumni game against the current UWP varsity crew.   The following is the schedule below (UNL vs Alumni if time available). Cornhusker Recap

cornhusker-clash-2016-09-24-allIt was a great day for a tournament for Nebraska, DePaul, and Platteville. The games were competitive and everyone had a great time. The day first started out with Platteville and a few of DePaul’s first years playing against Nebraska’s first years. It was a good experience for all as it got everyone warmed up and ready to go. The order of the games went: Platteville vs. DePaul, Platteville vs. Nebraska, and DePaul vs. Nebraska.

Cornhusker Clash

Cornhusker Clash (841 N 14th St, Lincoln, NE 68508)

This week kicks off the first tournament of the year for teams of Nebraska, DePaul, and Platteville. The Cornhusker Clash should be a blast and should provide some quality games for the teams participating. The last time that Nebraska held a tournament was two years ago and Platteville and DePaul attended. These teams all have experience which makes this a much different tournament than two years ago.

So Saturday, February 20, 2016, three teams came together to battle in the Zanderthon Throw-Down.  These teams were Platteville, Nebraska, and DePaul, it was a mix of very different styles of play which made for some good matches. Matt Gonzalez [UNL-46]

Matt of Nebraska-Lincoln Dodgeball is one great guy with a positive attitude, and known for a mighty beard. Some say the pure black of the full beard, when coupled with the Nebraska red, combines to create a sight to intimidate even the most seasoned opponent. His performance on the court, hospitality, and awesome demeanor led his fellow Nebraska Invite captains to nominate him for 2013 November Baller of the Month. I sat down to interview him over the internets.
