On August 12th, the Dodgeball Club at UW-Platteville teamed up with the NDA to host the annual Tim Ebert Memorial tournament. Tim was a player on the UWP team that made a huge impact and with the scholarship in his name will continue to make an impact to this day. This event we were able to raise $1,862.74 and with that amount raised, we will now be offering two scholarships. One will go to a current player on the Platteville Dodgeball Club and another to an individual from another team in the league.
The selection committee received applications from players around the league and came up with the following winners to receive this scholarship. The application asked individuals to explain their community involvement at home, their team, and the league as whole. The committee was looking for leadership skills, a willingness to help others, and further involvement in making the league a better place for current and future players. Let’s take a look at this year’s winners below!
Our first winner has been a part of the University of Wisconsin Platteville Dodgeball Club the last three years. He has been in a role of leadership two of those years. This year he has been on top of his teammates to make sure that they get their paperwork in and has been welcoming to the new players. This individual has been working hard and been putting in the work to be a better player as he wants to help his team succeed. His captains and fellow teammates have certainly taken notice and love the the type of player he is becoming so earlier in the season. We congratulate Zak Lathrop as one of the winners of the scholarship!
The second winner is new to the league and is going to be a great addition. He currently attends Ole Miss and is starting the club there. He has also been working hard to help find new recruits to start teams elsewhere in the south region. Not only that, but he has also joined our graphics team and we are excited to see the work he will put in for us. We congratulate Pryce Bell as the other winner of the scholarship!
We appreciate all the applications that we received and are excited to once again to be able to continue to provide this scholarship to continue to help individuals achieve their educational goals!
