Baller of the Week: Alex Acton

One of the star players for the Spartans, Alex Acton is known throughout the league as one of the most accurate players in the NCDA and a great catcher. His heroics can help carry MSU when they need him most, and he is a two time All Star selection for State. They’ll need him at this weekend’s MSU Invite if they hope to defend their title.

Baller of the Week: Chris Kramer

Chris played extremely well at the OSU Round Robin, and as one of the best all-around players on the roster he’s deserving of the honor. Being called “the best player on the team” by Kent State’s captain, Chris has a great arm to go along with good catching, good blocking, and clutch play. Look for him to play big at the MSU Invite and at Grand Valley this semester.

Baller of the Week: Tim Burkey

Tim, or Red as he’s affectionately called by his teammates, has grown tremendously as a player in the past month. This is his fifth season with the team, but he is definitely getting better. He’s already been a fearless blocker, but now he is also getting some clutch catches and big kills in practice.

Baller of the Week: Riley Robson

Riley is entering his second season with the Spartans, and he’s turning into one of their better players. He’s always had a power arm, but the last few practices he’s been showcasing his catching ability and his leadership, organizing team throws and blocking for teammates. If he can do these in matches then he should be a terror for the opposition as he looks towards helping State win a championship.

Baller of the Week: Ian Childs

Ian is in his sixth year with the team, and was a captain for three previous years. He’s on of the vocal leaders of the team and also has one of the most electric arms on the team. Ian can throw straight or cross, and is always looking for the chance to blast an opponent to get the team going. His excellent defensive skills also allow him to be a great weapon in end game scenarios.

Baller of the Week: Eric Paul

Eric is in his fourth season with the MSU Club Dodgeball Team, and is one of the best players in team history. He’s a two time All-Star and was named to the All-NCDA team in 2012. Eric has a great arm to go with elite catching skills and is an absolute force on the court for the Spartans. He’s had a couple great weeks of practices in a row as he tries to make the All-NCDA team again in 2013 and help lead the Spartans to a title.

Baller of the Week: Nicole Halbeisen

Nicole is entering her fourth year with the club dodgeball team, and has been team secretary for the past few seasons. She may be one of the smallest players in the league, but she is also one of the sneakiest and most fearless players in dodgeball. Nicole is also extremely dedicated to the team and her ability to catch, throw, and dodge make her a great addition to the squad.

Q: What’s your favorite dodgeball memory so far?

Nicole: It’s hard to remember my favorite memory, but one of them would be when I once caught a ball between my knees.

Q: What makes you one of the bravest players in the league?

Nicole: I think people first look at my size and think I’m brave that I’m just out on the court. I’m also not scared of getting hit, so that’s why I don’t fear approaching the other team to grab a ball or to try to get someone out.

Q: What is it about dodgeball that makes you like it so much?

Nicole: My favorite part of dodgeball is all of the good friends I have made over the years, and being competitive while still having fun.
