UW-Platteville traveled to Western Michigan University\u00a0in Kalamazoo, Michigan\u00a0to compete in the Dr.\u00a0Peter Broe Classic IV\u00a0on November 23rd<\/sup>.\u00a0Seven\u00a0teams competed\u00a0in Dr. Peter Broe Classic; University of Akron (Akron), Cleveland State University (CSU), Central Michigan University (CMU), Western Michigan State University (WMU), Grand Valley State University (GVSU), Michigan State University (MSU), and University of Wisconsin Platteville (UWP).\u00a0The Pioneers would compete in three matches\u00a0in this tournament.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MSU Vs UWP (11-0)<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The first match of the day, the Pioneers faced Michigan State University.\u00a0Ranked #4, MSU\u00a0faced #23 UWP, The Pioneers knew this match was going to be\u00a0very challenging. The first point started off with MSU getting ball control\u00a0and leading them to win first point.\u00a0MSU would continue to dominate and would end the first half\u00a0with seven points.\u00a0During\u00a0the second\u00a0half, the Pioneers only\u00a0conceded four points. This was\u00a0a great\u00a0opportunity\u00a0for the\u00a0rookies\u00a0to play\u00a0and get a sense\u00a0of how top teams like MSU played.\u00a0Rookie\u00a0#4 Jamie Damm\u00a0ended this match with 14 throws and had 3 outs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GVSU vs UWP (6-1)<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For the second match, UWP\u00a0would\u00a0face Grand Valley State University.\u00a0GVSU\u00a0ranks #5 overall.\u00a0The first point would start with\u00a0GVSU\u00a0getting ball control and first out.\u00a0GVSU\u00a0would take the\u00a0first\u00a0point. The second point would last longer and would end with a 1v1 with GVSU #11 against UWP #47 Dalton\u00a0Foreyt,\u00a0this point would go back and forth and end in a\u00a0balls\u00a0over to GVSU.\u00a0Dalton\u00a0Foreyt\u00a0would get the catch, winning the point for UWP.\u00a0GVSU\u00a0would then win the next five points.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Akron vs UWP (6-2)<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Pioneers would play Akron in their last match of the\u00a0tournament;\u00a0Akron would be ranked #10.\u00a0The match would start with Akron getting ball control,\u00a0however both teams would take turns pressuring each other. In the\u00a0end,\u00a0Akron would secure\u00a0the first\u00a0point.\u00a0Akron would continue working as\u00a0a\u00a0team\u00a0and would end the first half up by four points.\u00a0Off the start of\u00a0second\u00a0half, Akron would take their\u00a05th<\/sup>\u00a0point. However, UWP\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0go down without a fight and would take the next two points. Akron would finish this match by taking the last point.\u00a0#62 Dylan Fabry\u00a0would end this match and have a total of 43 thrown\u00a0outs on the day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
