Baller of the Year Award- Austin Kurey

This is an award that is given to the best player on the court. This individual throws outs, makes catches, provides pressure, and allows the team to compete. The winner is voted on by their teammates and this year’s winner was Austin Kurey. Let’s take a look at the interview below on his thoughts of winning the award.

Q) How do you feel after winning the award?

When I won the BOTY award I was very excited. There are quite a few players on this team that could be seen as BOTY players, so for the team to vote for me it was quite the honor.

Q) What was one of your favorite moments from this past season?

My favorite moment had to be playing against JMU on Sunday of Nationals. It was probably my best game of the season. Outside of games, my favorite moment was listing to Kanye West songs with Jalen. Jalen has a passion for Kanye that borderline’s obsession. However, he is a top 5 rapper so it makes some sense.

Q) What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to move home after graduation and mooch off my parents for as long as I can get away with it.

Q) What will you miss most about the club?

I will miss the bonds that grow within teammates. Coming into the year I barely knew half of these scrubs and now I’m friends with them.

Q) What advice do you have to younger and new players?

My advice to the young guys is to be self-critical. Look internally and find what you struggle with, look to improve it next year. You may not be next year’s BOTY, but there isn’t any reason that you can’t be next year’s Most Improved.
